An extension for the Louvre Museum and Tuileries garden
Frayed and Refined opens up the opportunity to defamiliarize the identifiable object in a new extension for the Louvre Museum and Tuileries Garden.
By extending the left and right wings of the Louvre museum with primitives and disintegrating them by squeezing, tearing, ripping, and wrinkling, the project produces less recognizable figures. The additions blur and distort the monumentality of the Louvre. Later by redefining the edges of the additions, we achieve a painterly effect that represents a new form of coherency. 
The thesis critiques what we have historically known as the naturalized ideal of nature in dead moments of architecture.
