Tehran
Commercial Complex
KRDS Studio
At KRDS, we designed a commercial complex on one of Tehran's major streets. The mass study was quite straightforward since it was located in a wealthy neighborhood. The client asked us to optimize our design for the maximum number of stores, so the floor plan was kept simple, featuring limited underground parking and two rows of escalators on either side of the building. We also included a centrally located escalator to easily guide customers from the first floor to the various stores on the upper levels, ultimately leading to a food court situated on the rooftop.
We knew we needed an iconic facade that would define this building, focusing on seamlessly integrating the facade with the roof to create a distinctive and innovative design. Additionally, we established a relationship between the facade and the floor plan, resulting in several interesting voids. Since it was a misfit, we also created connections between different floors, enhancing the overall flow and experience of the space.

Residential to Institutional Conversion
KRDS Studio
While at KRDS Studio, we transformed a residential building into an institutional space—the headquarters of a bank. The bank purchased a residential building that was under development, which had initial structural elements and flooring in place, and asked us to design an iconic façade. The design, inspired by the secure nature of a bank, envisioned the structure as a wrapped box with metal ribbons, symbolizing a netted texture that unifies the chaotic urban fabric. The façade features a modern interpretation of the traditional Iranian "Karbandi" structure, with interweaving lines rotated horizontally to emphasize the horizon, balancing representation and abstraction.
I used various parametric design techniques in Grasshopper to ensure we achieved the final aesthetic results. At the same time, I had to ensure that we followed a logic that made it easy to construct the façade. Later, I applied that Grasshopper logic to develop construction documents for building all of the metal panels.

Kazakhstan Memorial Pantheon
Inspired by Kazakhstan's diverse landscapes, the Memorial Pantheon is designed to blend seamlessly with the environment. The site features a central hill that symbolizes the natural terrain, with the Pantheon extending towards the Kabanbai Batyr Memorial, positioned as a focal point on the north side. The design is inspired by the Issyk Kurgan burial mounds, with flowing lines and a hill-shaped roof that symbolize both the world and those buried within.
The structure is divided into two sections: one under a large concrete roof supported by 20 symbolic columns, representing the connection between the burials below and the trees above. A central dome allows light to beam into the Pantheon's heart, creating a mysterious, symbolic atmosphere. The crypt features 42 burials with an underground connection to the Garden Crypt.

Courtyard Revitalization
MMA Architecture
At MMA Architecture, we were tasked with revitalizing an old courtyard and introducing a new restaurant to attract more foot traffic. The main idea was to design new elements that complement the existing features while addressing the new needs of the space. Later, I focused on creating key elements and the final layout to showcase the potential of the area, providing a proof of concept aimed at drawing more visitors. Subsequently, I worked on translating this design into a set of drawings to obtain city approval.
Responsibilities:
Participated in design development and visualization of the project’s potential.
Shopping Center Development
MMA Architecture
This project involved the design and development of a vibrant shopping center in a Los Angeles neighborhood, centered around the concept of creating a secondary pedestrian walkway to draw customers through the space and enhance accessibility.
The project presented unique challenges, including navigating complex code and zoning requirements. My contributions included producing all technical drawings necessary for city approval, collaborating with senior architects to address design and compliance questions, and iterating through multiple rounds of revisions.
I played a key role in facade design and development, material selection, and adding detailed design elements to various parts of the project. Additionally, I created 3D visualizations, elevations, and documentation for the entitlement package, ensuring a comprehensive and visually compelling presentation of the project.
Responsibilities:

Residential Complex
MMA Architecture
At MMA Architecture, I collaborated with a senior architect to explore the feasibility of a residential complex in a Los Angeles neighborhood. My main responsibility was to create all the necessary drawings and diagrams needed for city approval, ensuring the project complied with local regulations. Additionally, I designed the building's façade on-site, as well as two other pad buildings within the development, making sure the design language remained consistent throughout the entire project.
Multi-Tenant Complex
MMA Architecture
This project involved designing two pad buildings as part of a larger complex in a Los Angeles neighborhood. The primary goal was to seamlessly integrate the new structures with the existing buildings we had previously designed and constructed on the same site.
In collaboration with the site planner and another designer, I produced all required documentation, including floor plans, roof plans, sections, and detailed drawings for city approval and construction. I focused on ensuring compliance with local regulations while maintaining design consistency across the complex.
Uring the project complied with local regulations.

Frayed & Refined
Thesis Project, Master's Degree (SCI-Arc)
Frayed & Refined is an architectural extension concept for the Louvre Museum and Tuileries Garden. This project explores the defamiliarization of recognizable structures by extending the Louvre's wings with primitive forms, which are then distorted through techniques such as squeezing, tearing, and wrinkling. These alterations blur the monumentality of the Louvre, creating a painterly effect that introduces a new sense of coherency to the architecture. The project critiques traditional notions of nature within architecture, challenging the historical ideal by reinterpreting structure and form.

Radical Interiority in Architecture
Studio Project, Master's Degree (SCI-Arc)
This project explores 'hollow monoliths,' crafting an immersive architectural environment through voids, liners, habitable poche, nested objects, and ground extrusions to evoke hollowness. Inverting traditional architectural priorities, the design emphasizes interior complexity, offering a fresh take on architecture.
Proposal for Los Angeles Courthouse:
We reimagined the courthouse as a flexible space, moving away from its rigid form. The design manipulates scale and uses glass with varying transparency to create a dialogue between the interior and the city. A floating container interacts with the ground, challenging gravity and scale. Inside, clear circulation loops connect courtrooms to towers via bridges, transforming the courthouse into a nested world within the urban landscape.
Responsibilities:
Participated in all aspects of the project, including design, development, and presentation.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Technical drawing is a vital aspect of the architectural process, serving as the bridge between creative ideas and their realization in the built environment. For me, understanding how we construct our surroundings is as important as the initial design itself. I approach design development with a commitment to precision, ensuring that every detail is thoughtfully considered and effectively communicated.
By focusing on how materials, structures, and systems come together, I strive to create designs that are not only visually compelling but also practical and buildable. This process involves collaboration with engineers, contractors, and clients to translate concepts into comprehensive technical drawings that guide every stage of construction.
My dedication to understanding the complexities of building strengthens my ability to deliver designs that seamlessly merge innovation and functionality, ensuring that each project contributes meaningfully to the environment we inhabit.
In this SCI-Arc case study, 3D visualization played a crucial role in streamlining design, saving time, and reducing costs—an approach you may want to consider for your own projects.
Inspired by plastic surgery and MRI techniques, we applied slicing, peeling, and cutting methods to create dynamic, multidimensional representations of the courthouse's structure, materials, and energy systems. The Main Cutaway Drawing showcased intricate details influenced by aerospace precision and covered aspects from cost analysis to AIA requirements.

The truss system will be constructed with lightweight steel framing for a long-span superstructure. The core above consists of a lightweight steel braced frame to reduce the load on the truss below, allowing for a column-free floor plan that suits the courtroom program.
All other cores are made of concrete shear walls for vertical load-bearing and lateral stability. A concrete flat-plate system is used to lower the floor-to-floor height by reducing the thickness of the floor plates, enabling connection to the adjacent load-bearing exterior concrete wall.
